Researchers have shown that APSS, our Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS), integrated into an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP), reduces the median duration of antimicrobial treatment, and has just over 90% of its recommendations accepted.

It is also interesting to note that among the other most frequently proposed interventions were a switch from intravenous to oral therapy and spectrum modification, both of which are cost-effective interventions in optimal antimicrobial stewardship.
This publication reinforces the potential benefits of using a CDSS, demonstrating better outcomes when clinicians accept the recommendations suggested by APSS.
By producing alerts that identify suboptimal prescriptions, APSS helps pharmacists to perform in their ASP and play a part in the appropriate use of ATMs.
